6 Ways to Make Injectable Results Last Longer
Injectable treatments will need maintenance throughout the year, but there are a few things you can be doing immediately after treatment and in between appointments to make your results last longer! Here’s what you can do to extend the effects of injectables between clinic visits...

Immediately after treatment
First and foremost, please ensure you are following the advice & aftercare instructions given by your practitioner at the time of your appointment! This advice will be tailored to your particular treatment and unique skin, so it's very important to take note of what you're advised in clinic.
Generally speaking, after any injectable treatment you should avoid touching the area as this can spread bacteria around injection sites. We also recommend keeping the skin clear of any products or make up, and staying away from swimming pools, saunas and physical exercise for at least 24 hours, unless otherwise advised.
Stay hydrated
Drinking plenty of water not only keeps your skin healthy, but also helps maintain your treatments. Hyaluronic acid, the primary ingredient of dermal fillers, is hydrophilic which essentially means the molecule attracts copious amounts of water. Keeping hydrated following a dermal filler treatment will help to enhance the effects of dermal fillers, preserving a plump and voluminous look to the injected area.
Avoid caffeine
Yes, unfortunately, the people's favourite beverage is off-limits for the first few days after treatment! Caffeine can cause swelling and bruising to worsen, so its best avoided before & after your treatment.
This applies across all injectable treatments, but especially when it comes to lip enhancements. When you’ve had caffeine recently, your blood vessels are dilated, including in your lips. With more blood coming through, any trauma will result in a larger bruise. Think of it as poking a hole in a hose when the tap is on high versus on low pressure.
The effect is the same with anti-wrinkle injections, but tends to be much less prominent, because the volume of substance being injected into the face is much lower.
Getting plenty of sleep
Sleeping helps to repair and restore our bodies, which is important after any injectable treatment. Getting plenty of sleep will speed up the healing process.
If you've had fillers or anti-ageing injectables, sleeping on your back assists in the retention of fillers as they settle. Laying on your back with your head up also keeps fluids out of your head, which helps decrease swelling and bruising.
Prioritise your skincare routine
The benefits of injectables (like many other cosmetic treatments) will last longer for patients who properly take care of their skin.
You may be coming into clinic every 4-12 weeks depending on your treatment, so the large majority of your results will depend on what you do in between... This is where your personalised medical grade skincare plan comes in!
We will recommend a personalised skincare plan to take home to compliment and maintain results from your clinic treatments, consisting of medical grade products that are proven and backed by science.
Avoid UV exposure
UV exposure is the leading cause of up to 90% of ageing signs, causing sunburn, brown spots (sun spots), faster skin ageing, and increased skin cancer risk. If you're investing in injectable treatments and then exposing your skin to UV rays, you're essentially reversing all the work we've done in clinic.
Maintain your results for longer by using a high-quality broad-spectrum sunscreen, avoiding the outdoors during peak UV hours, and wearing a wide-brimmed hat. With daily use, this SPF 50 can prevent premature ageing, preserve your skins radiance and inhibit photo-ageing, prolonging your results and actively preventing further ageing.
